OXYGEN – FRAGMENTED CITIES+IDENTITIES is opened on November 19, 2016 with the live art performance of the English artist Joss Carter and has been a great success with an huge presence of audience and artists involved.
The Brasilian artist Carla Fatio attends the opening of the event and presents her amazing paintings
“Eto” and “Etino“. She is a contemporary visual artist and she has been participating in more than 89 group art exhibitions in different places and countries, and also 30 solo art exhibitions in Brazil, and abroad.
Christopher Matthew Luther proposes the video art “PM (parts per million)-2.5“, a compression of real trauma painting a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Moments of ethereality or dream like states of calm beauty appear, but in reality the grey skyline is not water vapor, or fog, but dense air pollution of Carbon Monoxide, Ozone, Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, and millions of small toxic compounds (VOC at PM2.5 and PM10).
Raquel Bigio, University Professor in Visual Arts, photographer and Visual Artist, exhibits: “Urban Abstract 1“, “Urban Abstract 2“, “Urbant Contrast 1” and “Urban Contrast 2“. The representation of urban spaces is one of her favorite subjects. In order to capture it she doesn’t shoot every time the mood strikes her, but rather establishes a deep connection with each image she captures.
“House for the angel” is the installation work, presented by artist Heryun Kim of South Korea and created by ink on paper and metal.
The English artist Emma Neilson for the event OXYGEN presents her black and white photo: “I Saw You“, in which is represented an alone girl in the forest
.
Cristina Gutiérrez-Cruz from Costa Rica shows her paintings: “Vida 3 /Life #3“, “Seto/ Hedge #1” and “Vida 5/ Life #5“. She believes that “nature contains that part of the external experience considered interpersonal or shared, and through her abstract painting and drawing, she assumes the task of exploring this region“.
The Germanian artist Brigitte Dietz by painting she tries to explore the paradox of the human being living alone in community. She proposes for the event her work: “Conductor, Cornelius Meister“.
Francesca Busca, Italian artist exhibits her mosaic work: “Pull Me Out of Darkness“, created by recycled/upcycled material. According to the artist words: “A hand for help or hope? Who’s pulling who out of darkness? Or is light in the middle? Whichever way, a message of fraternity and humility in dark times of intolerance – let us all aim for the light, be it love or knowledge, through an open heart and an open mind“.
Diana Fernández Vásquez from Guatemala presents her white alabastro’s sculpture “Camino Fragmentado“. Her creations discover hidden tips and ways of working materials, is the engine that drives this sculptur daily, inspiration of traveling.
Natalie McLeod & Stuart Foster display a video: “Micro-inhabitation v2“, which is a virtual environment derived from microscopic form and surface. The viewer surveys the terrain from above before entering the space at ‘ground level’, journeying though and becoming immersed in the stylised microscopic landscape.
